Dining in style with vintage pieces!

Here I am a couple of Thanksgivings ago, ready to welcome dinner guests while posing with my Lenox dinnerware.

As the Covid-19 pandemic forges forward, folks are looking for new and creative ways to have some fun at home. I came across an op-ed piece in the Chicago Tribune back a few weeks, where the writer, Mary Wisniewski, wrote about enjoying her coffee, sandwiches and dinners on her mom and dad’s good china from 1948.

That struck me as a very good idea, and being a person with several sets (not all complete) of china dinnerware that I’ve accumulated over the years, I have plans to try some fine dining in style. Put a lovely tablecloth on the dining room table, bring out the good silver, and set the table with some of the “good” china. And don’t forget the linen napkins!

Thanksgiving will be here in a few short weeks and I always look forward to setting an elegant table with my “finery.” Now, I agree with Mary and may start serving Sunday dinner with some of my china pieces. Dining on fine dinnerware is a great way to cheer up during these trying times!

If you are looking for fine china pieces, check out estate sales, thrift stores and auctions for some great selections on vintage china. And the prices may surprise you!
