Springtime postcard shows continue throughout the country!
A little more than a week ago, Barr’s bid a fond farewell to our associate publisher, Debbie Corkery, who retired on March 30. Debbie has been with Barr’s Postcard News and Ephemera for many years.
For me personally, I can’t believe that I first met Debbie at a Jim Taylor postcard show in Countryside, Illinois back in 2011 when I interviewed for the job of editor for both Barr’s and Collectors Journal –that is almost 7 years ago. I began as editor of the publications in January of 2012 and worked closely with Debbie on a variety of editorial issues related to both publications. I wish her well and hope she enjoys her much-needed respite. Some of you may remember that I retired back a couple of years ago, but it didn’t last long as I was called back after just a few months. Hmm. Maybe we will see Debbie after a few months as well. That’d be great! And in the meantime, Bonnie Loy will be taking over Debbie’s duties and I’m sure we all wish her great success!
Moving along to other deltiology matters, we’re featuring an article in this issue that normally appears in Collectors Journal –namely, “You Collect What!” What we’re looking for are unusual collections that our readers have interest in and we heard from a couple who sent in the story about their unusual collection of postcards. They only collect postcards that are focused on April Fool’s Day –and that hail from France. I’m sure our Barr’s readers will enjoy reading the story and enjoying the cute postcards. If anyone else has an unusual collection of postcards or ephemera, please contact us at the telephone number or e-mails listed below. We’d love to hear from you!
